Change Step Case Studies

Harry’s Story

Since I was introduced to the Change Step programme in late April 2013 it has completely turned my life around. I was made welcome immediately and offered help and support for me and my family. Change Step has given me a new focus and bought structure into my life by helping me gain new qualifications, I’m currently studying towards a B-TEC. I also enjoy getting involved in practical outdoor volunteer work alongside [.....]

Support as only another Veteran could…

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Phil and CAIS (Change Step) for the invaluable service that I have received so far. Having Phil and all the other support at the end of the phone is irreplaceable to me at the moment. Phil regularly calls me to touch base on where I’m up to and is always there when things get too much and I have to reach out, even when he probably doesn’t have to. Having Phil at the [.....]

Phil’s Story

From a very young age I wanted to be a soldier, all the male role models in my life including my father had served in the British Armed Forces. Ronnie Devlin is a man on a mission. Involved at the early stages of the veteran-to-veteran peer mentoring programme, Change Step, he along with the rest of the Change Step team are supporting its roll out, for the very first time, across the whole of Wales. Ronne is a British Army man through and through, serving his country for over 26 years in locations as far afield as Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Canada and Iraq [.....]

Adam’s Story

I had been in the army for two years when I was medically discharged. I made some terrible choices and ended up in a very bad place. Within two months of leaving the army I found myself in and out of Prison for seven years. Five months ago I was homeless and living in a tent. I first heard about Change Stepw when I went to the job centre and saw a leaflet. Although I was sceptical I decided to go to the drop-in in [.....]
