Welcome

  • Members of DACW deliver the lottery-funded Drink Wise Age Well project in the Cwm Taf area of south Wales, helping people make better choices about alcohol in their later years
  • The Cyfle Cymru Out of Work Service helps people gain the new skills and confidence they need to move into employment throughout north Wales, Gwent, Powys, Dyfed and Western Bay
  • Our Change Step peer mentoring project works in partnership with a host of bodies to support military veterans with mental health, substance misuse, criminal justice, housing and other issues

Developing a Caring Wales (DACW) is a Welsh Consortium providing a complete range of services for people affected by alcohol and drug use and mental health difficulties.

DACW consists of a number of voluntary sector agencies from across Wales. The consortium has been established to:

  • support fundraising
  • encourage research and development
  • help streamline core services and deliver economies of scale
  • boost access to training and accreditation

DACW ensures:

  • multi-agency commitment to delivering the best services throughout Wales
  • a diversity of philosophies, but shared approaches in research, information-gathering and evidence-led good practice
  • cost-effective delivery of services across Wales
  • strength, through speaking as one voice for the sector
  • opportunities for workforce development

Objectives and Activities

We aim:

  • to procure, tender and contract manage pan-Wales services on behalf of members
  • to work with and promote the rights of individuals with substance misuse and mental health issues
  • to ensure active and effective service user involvement in the planning and delivery of services
  • to undertake and promote research, and publish the useful results of such research
